Trump Business Attempted to Bring In Almost 200 Employees on Visas in 2025

Donald Trump’s family business increased its hiring of foreign workers on short-term work permits this year, even as his administration was creating barriers for other businesses attempting to do the identical, an analysis released Thursday claimed.

According to data from the federal labor department, the Trump Organization aimed to hire at least 184 overseas employees in the coming year for short-term roles at the US president’s Mar-a-Lago resort, two golf clubs and his Virginia winery.

The quantity of applications for temporary work visas covering staff including waitstaff, clerks, housekeepers, culinary employees and agricultural laborers was the record submitted by the company, and up from over 120 in 2021, when Trump’s first term ended.

It was also the fifth time in 10 years that Trump had sought to bring in over a hundred overseas workers for seasonal jobs at Mar-a-Lago, according to available data.

The revelation coincides with a crackdown on immigration laws by his administration that has included the introduction of a $100,000 fee on H1-B visas; increased review of the activities of the millions of people who already hold US visas; and tighter regulations for international scholars and reporters.

Overall, the business sought to hire over 560 overseas workers over the five years the former president has been in the White House, from his first term and during 2025.

Notably, Trump was questioned by some in the GOP this period for remarks justifying the need for foreign workers when a company was unable to find people with “particular skills” to fill certain positions.

“You cannot just say a nation is coming in, going to invest billions to build a facility, and going to take people off an jobless roster who haven’t worked in years, and they’re going to start making their defense systems. It doesn’t work that effectively,” he stated to a host after it was implied that foreign workers lower the pay of US workers.

The White House refused a request for comment, and the business did not immediately respond to an request for information.
